Bill Asher’s Career As A Movie Producer And Writer Was Prolific

He was born Aug. 8, 1921 in Manhattan. His parents were actor Lillian Bonner and publicist Betty Asher. He became an actor at the age of eleven. Among his many accomplishments are the movies “The Breakfast Club” and “Fibber McGee and Molly,” which starred Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello.

The success of the ventures he created were not only lucrative, but Asher also helped the entertainment industry as a whole. His venues became famous for their extravagant parties and stunts and gained him huge media attention. Celebrities like Justin Bieber performed Golddigger at American Junkie, and Jamie Fox performed Golddigger at PCL. Other notable acts that attended Asher’s venues included Charles Barkley and Mike Tyson. The latter was arrested after a night out at one of Asher’s venues, but he was able to intercede and get the charges against him dropped. Tyson subsequently gave Asher a big thank you by holding his championship belt during his next fight.

After the divorce of his first wife, Mr. Asher married actress Joyce Bulifant and then married Meredith Coffin McMachen. His children include two daughters and three sons. He also has 10 grandchildren. In addition, he was close with Frank Sinatra and Peter Lawford. He was also a close friend of Sammy Davis Jr.
